Each year on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, Flags for Fallen Vets places a small American flag at the grave of every veteran buried in the National Cemeteries across the country. The program was started more than 25 years ago to help ensure that our nation’s veterans are appropriately remembered on this important day.
The Masonic “family” consisting of Blue Lodge Freemasons, Scottish Rite and York Rite Masons, Shriners, members of the Order of Eastern Star and our youth groups – the DeMolay Boys, Rainbow Girls and Jobs Daughters all are proud to participate in this important event. Several years ago the Masons “adopted” Section S of Fort Logan National Cemetery and assumed the responsibility of placing Flags on every grave in that section, the largest section of the Cemetery.

This year saw more than 100 Masons, their ladies, families and friends come out to place flags. Many of the men are veterans themselves and the ceremony has a special meaning for all of the participants. Many of the Founding Fathers of our country were Masons and the Masonic tradition of strongly supporting our military and veterans continues.
It was a beautiful day filled with love, honor, respect and brotherhood. We are blessed.

The ladies were there to help, also.
God Bless America!
Major Lee Miller, US Army (Retired) is a Mason. Although he has endured several back surgeries because of injuries received in the military and has to walk with a cane full time. Lee saluted every grave in the section. This is a true American patriot.
Beautiful!
