The Independence Day Parade in Georgetown, Colorado is always a great event. Several thousand visitors come up to the mountain town in the heart of Colorado’s Gold Country to celebrate America’s birthday. We always have an outstanding and patriotic parade, followed by a picnic in the park. Idaho Springs then sponsors a great fireworks show in the evening. Happy Birthday, America!
Old Navy is always “haze gray and underway”, leading the parade through Georgetown as we pass out nearly 3,000 American flags to every person along the parade route. L-R are Danny Tomlinson, Mike Peery, Anne English and Rich Lewis.
The ladies helping hand out flags are always a great hit in their Victorian dress. L-R are Tobi Howell, Pam Lewis, Anne English, Michelle Tyler, Amy Tomlinson, Tara Worley and Georgetown Events Coordinator and Parade Organizer Extraordinaire Jessica Edwards.
Georgetown’s favorite troubadour, Rob Solomon and his wife Robin. Rob is properly saluting the American flag as we pass by. Rob is a wonderful guitarist and singer, playing at 511 Rose and other spots around town.
The parade moves up 6th Street as the kids scramble for candy thrown by the parade participants.
Randy & Franci Dorsey came down from Fall River for the parade.
The picnic in the park on Rose street was a busy place with lots of good food and entertainment.
The 4th of July celebration finished up with fireworks over the waterfall in Idaho Springs. God Bless America!
We’re in the mountains, where there are no strangers – only good friends that we haven’t met yet!
