Major projects of Clear Creek County Veterans Coalition require organization and cooperation with various community groups, donated money, volunteer time, participation by CCCVC members. Below are examples of some of our more demanding projects.
Food Distribution Network
Started in early 2020, this project began as a result of COVID-19 reaction disruption. It continues today as a weekly food relief project for the community using our box truck for several pickup stops down the hill and multiple delivery stops locally.
Wreaths Across America
The community contributes to annual purchases of Wreaths for veterans’ graves in cemeteries in Clear Creek and Gilpin counties. This project succeeds each December year after year with huge organization, support, and participation from the community.
Community Events
Our Veterans Coalition participates in several community events each year in cooperation with various organizations and towns. Some events specifically for Veterans are held at Idaho Springs Elks Lodge and are open to the public. Some patriotic and holiday events are held elsewhere in the county.
Patriotism, Monuments, and Flags
Projects such as replacing the Blue Star Memorial Highway marker in Idaho Springs, renaming the Twin Tunnels to Veterans Memorial Tunnels, and maintaining the Stars and Stripes that adorn Colorado Blvd have kept volunteers busy over the years.
