Wreaths Across America was observed in Clear Creek County today. The students from Clear Creek High School presented a wonderful and moving program at the Idaho Springs United Center, recognizing all branches of the military and honoring the veterans that are serving or have served their country. The event was made even more meaningful with the recognition of all the veterans in attendance, including Bruce Bell, a 94-year old veteran of World War II. Elsie & Millie Gothman presented a tribute to their brother George, currently deployed with the Colorado National Guard.

The many volunteers then dispersed to the five cemeteries in Clear Creek County and placed more than 700 Christmas wreaths on the graves of the veterans resting in those cemeteries. It was a patriotic, emotional and great day in the mountains, where there are no strangers – only good friends that we haven’t met yet! Thanks to everyone that helped today at the more than 4,000 cemeteries across the country!
